  2. WELCOME MESSAGE The latest version of WordPress that is running right now is WordPress 5.8. It was released in July 2021 and has come with a lot of new features. Let’s check them out. Read More 02

  3. TEMPLATE EDITOR This is a brand-new feature that is compatible with a few WordPress themes. Here, you can set a separate design for a particular post. Following are the site-wide non-content elements that you can edit here: Logo Tagline Site title Query loop Post title and date Content Excerpt Featured image Categories Tags Login/logout Page list 03

  4. The widget editor now has a block editor format. Go to Appearance and select Widgets. Here, you can select and add widgets as blocks to the sidebars and widget-enabled areas. Additionally, you can make changes in colors for text, background and links too. BLOCK EDITOR FOR WIDGETS 04

  5. In the grid view, we could initially view unlimited images from the media library. However, in WordPress 5.8, you’ll get the “Load More” button after say around 50 images. Additionally, every image has a button that allows you to “Copy URL to clipboard”. This helps you add an existing image from the media library to a new post.   6. SUPPORTS AN ADDITIONAL IMAGE FORMAT – WEBP The “Add Block” panel comprises of a newly added feature, which suggests patterns that you can add to a page or post in the background. Some of the patterns are new while others are integrated with the pattern directory of WordPress. 06

  7. QUERY LOOP BLOCK This is also a new feature of the latest version of WordPress, wherein you can display a list of posts, products or pages based on certain parameters. You just need to turn on the feature from the Block section and then add a new post, page or product there. The Duotone Filter In order to match the images better with the theme, the duotone filter now allows you to add pre-sets to your images to match it with your WordPress theme colors. 07

  8. Improved Navigation for Simpler Edits BLOCK ENHANCEMENTS You can make an overall change with the gradient color for tables, text color, spacing, columns, padding and link colors. Navigation has become more user-friendly with the addition of some new icons as well as better layout of certain features. These include the following: Service Two New parent block icon to select the parent block Improvement in layout of the list view panel A better selection tool that helps in block highlighting and handling to move them up and down 08
