  1. DISPOSE OF WEEE WASTE CORRECTLY, FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR HEALTH & YOUR ENVIRONMENT The accumulation of WEEE waste in landfill sites up and down the UK is a concerning issue. If WEEE waste is allowed to accumulate in landfills, pollution of the soil and groundwater is possible, and when incinerated WEEE waste can cause poisonous fumes and pollutants that enter the atmosphere. As we accumulate more and more electronic goods and equipment, each of us as individuals have a duty to ensure that we dispose of WEEE Waste in an environmentally responsible manner. Electronic waste disposalis actually a very straightforward process as there are many established IT recycling companies that currently offer WEEE waste collection and recycling services. Electronic products contain substances which can be extremely toxic to the environment. Harmful elements such as lead, beryllium, polyvinyl chloride and mercury pose a significant threat to the environment, as well as to human health. Alongside toxic components, electronic equipment can also contain tiny fragments of gold, silver and copper that can be extracted, and reused in the manufacture of new electronic products. Batteries can also contain cadmium or nickel that can be recycled and used again. Only a small percentage of electronic waste is currently recycled via IT recycling companies, and this is largely down to consumer ignorance. Slowly though, more and more individuals are becoming aware of the issue and are beginning to act responsibly by taking their used WEEE items to an IT recycling company for recycling, so that it does not end up in landfills, or be destined for an incinerator. It is important to check that the IT recycling companyyou plan to use is fully accredited and is aware of all current government legislation regarding WEEE waste disposal. Thorough WEEE waste collection includes initial identification and categorisation of WEEE waste, before the separation stage commences. WEEE Recycle offers you the perfect solution for all of your WEEE waste issues. WEEE Recycle are always ready to answer any questions you may have regarding waste collection.
