  1. Phil Reale: Oil and Natural Gas Phil Reale is a West Virginia lawyer who practices law in Charleston. He and his firm represent clients before the legislative and executive branches of the State government. Phil Reale has years of experience with state government policy development and describes himself as a government relations strategist and problem solver. "We welcome and encourage associations with anyone whose interest is consistent with improving life in our state, regardless of political, professional or special interest affiliation," he says.

  2. Oil And Gas Law Is A Category Of Natural Resources Law In West Virginia, the coal, oil and gas laws are often referred to collectively as energy and natural resources law. Oil and gas law is a category of natural resources law that includes the exploration for, and the production, transportation and processing of, crude oil, natural gas and associated hydrocarbons.

Phil Reale Lawyer - Federal & State Issues Related To Oil And Gas Industry From 1980 to 1988, Phil Reale was involved primarily with federal and state issues that relate to the oil and gas industry. He dealt mainly in environmental and landowner issues, and tax and economic development issues. "This tenure," he recalls, "included serving as president of the West Virginia Independent Oil and Gas Association and Chair of the Government Affairs Committee."

Oil And Natural Gas Have Always Been Present In WV As Phil Reale knows, oil and natural gas have always been present in West Virginia; the first oil well in the state having been successfully drilled in Ritchie County, West Virginia in 1859. The state's oil industry was thriving in a relatively short period after that. Many of the state's oil fields were destroyed during the Civil War, but the industry bounced back when the war was over, and both oil and natural gas drilling continues. The present day emphasis is on the drilling and production of natural gas from the Marcellus Shale.
