  3. Buildzar.com overview Cement is the most important raw material used in a building construction. Therefore, you have to ensure that right type and quality of cement be used during construction. A cement is a binder, a substance that sets and hardens and can bind other materials together. The word "cement" can be traced back to the Roman term opus caementicium, used to describe masonry resembling modern concrete that was made from crushed rock with burnt lime as binder. +91-9555-913-913 care@buildzar.com

  4. Buildzar.com Types & Grades There are many types of cement in the market to suit every need. Although the three major types of cement used in general construction purposes are 1. Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) - Grade 43, Grade 53 2. Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) 3. White Cement Grades 53 & 43 indicate the compressive strength of cement in Newton for one mm2 area. Grade 53 means a compressive strength of 53 N/ mm2is attained after a curing period of 28 days. Same will apply to grade 43. +91-9555-913-913 care@buildzar.com

  9. Buildzar.com Check the Quality & Quantity Yourself Check that the bags are fresh and are machine stitched. Packing should be of polypropylene bags. Check that the bag displays Indian Standards mark and number to which it conforms. Check Cement Type written on the bag. Generally, the colour of lettering on the bag is Black for OPC & Red for PPC. On the arrival of ordered cement, do a count check for exact match to the quantity ordered. Check the weight of random bags. +91-9555-913-913 care@buildzar.com

  10. Buildzar.com Check the Quality & Quantity Yourself Take a pinch of cement in your hand and rub between fingers; it should give smooth finish. Check for the texture of the cement. There must be no lumps in the bag due to presence of moisture. Check the manufacturing week number and the year on the bag. The cement bags should not be older than six weeks from the date of manufacturing. Take some quantity of cement and make a paste out of it. Place this paste on a plate and give it a square shape. Immerse it gradually in to a bucket of water. If its shape remains intact and hardens after 24 hours then the cement is of good quality else not. +91-9555-913-913 care@buildzar.com

  11. Buildzar.com Do’s and Don'ts for cement storage Place the Cement Bags closely together in the stack to reduce circulation of air as much as possible. No contact with Water & Moisture or else lumps will be formed and strength will be lost. Arrange the bags in header-and-stretcher fashion, i.e. alternately length-wise and cross-wise to achieve interlocking between them and reducing the danger of toppling over. To avoid lump formation, do not stack more than 10-bags. Do not stack the bags in contact with an external wall. +91-9555-913-913 care@buildzar.com
