In the current industrial scenario, emphasis is being laid on cost cutting and induction of versatility in the offerings of a particular company. This paper shall study and check the feasibility of offering Knife Gate Valves for high working and testing pressures. Being a member of the family of Block valves used for enabling and disabling the flow, Knife Gate Valves serve the best in demanding applications that include handling of thick and abrasive media which needs to be cut through during operation. However, there are certain applications which include working pressures in the range of 10 bar. In such case, it is necessary to check the feasibility of employing a Knife Gate Valve based on the design and overall valve structure. In order to do the same, this paper shall consider various aspects like applications, purpose of use, suitability of flow media, working parameters and design for various profiles. A conclusion shall be drawn dictating the technical feasibility of employing Knife Gate Valves for high working and testing pressure requirements. The preventive maintenance of transformer involves the restoration of the standard quality values of the transformer oil and aids the effective functioning of the transformer. Need For Oil Filtration: The performance of the transformer depends mainly on the transformer insulating oil and so the deterioration of the oil leads to severe faults in the transformer. The preventive maintenance requires a periodic purification of the transformer oil. Due to continued operation of the transformer the insulating oil present in the transformer will get contaminated with moisture content, acid compounds and other unwanted chemical gases that are dissolved in the oil. Over the years the amount of impurities that gets deposited in the transformer oil reaches a high value that leads to failure of the equipment. In order to avoid any unexpected failures there arise the need for transformer oil filtration system to remove the impurities from the contaminated oil. Why Oil Filtration : Now a days transformer oil filtration system can be done onsite without moving the equipment to the near by repairing site which reduces the cost of maintenance by a considerable amount. The process of oil filtration is also done online which means the oil is filtered while in operation. The coarse sludge materials present in the oil are eliminated by suitable oil filtration system machines. What is High Vacuum oil filtration : High vacuum transformer oil filtration machine are used to purify the oil in both online and offline mode. This machine encores a double deck high vacuum pumping system where the first stage pump is used to remove the moisture content present in the insulating oil and the second stage high vacuum chamber removes the dissolved unwanted gases that are dissolved in the oil which is known as degassing chamber. The machine also consists of filters that removes the solid sludge materials that are larger than one micron. This high vacuum transformer oil filtration system has efficient performance when compared with other filtering methods and thereby this method is widely used with all high rated transmission and distribution power network transformers. Filters of great precision are deployed in this machine to have 99% efficiency in filtering the particles less than one micron. This transformer oil filtration system machine requires only low energy for its efficient operation. This entire machine set up can be parked with the transformer itself to have periodic filtration of transformer insulating oil. Advantages of using high vacuum oil filtration : The high vacuum machine is also considered safe as it has an specific interlock protection system which can save the life of transformer at the time of any overloading occurs and when the heat developed inside the transformer reaches a dangerous level the machine works along with the other controllers to protect the transformer from reaching any faults. A highly advanced liquid level sensing and controlling mechanism is also provided to ensure safe operating of the equipment. Also this advanced vacuum oil filtration machine is provided with a drying unit where the degassed oil is allowed to get dried and also there by losing it moisture content in it. This transformer oil filtration system can be operated fully automatic without need for any skilled persons. After the filtration process is over the oil is filled back to the transformer and it starts running as a effective coolant.
