PURPOSE OF THIS PRESENTATION:- • Through this presentation, we aim to tell you what exactly does Parental Sponsorship means and how a permanent resident of Canada may bring their Parents and Grandparents to Canada as a permanent residents. • In this presentation, we will also tell all the permanent residents of Canada who wish to bring their Parents and Grandparents as a permanent residents of Canada that how they are eligible to immigrate to Canada as permanent residents. • This presentation will also be guiding all the permanent residents of Canada and their Parents and Grandparents about every minute details about the procedure to apply under this sponsorship.

WHAT IS PARENTAL SPONSORSHIP:- • If you are a citizen or permanent resident of Canada, you may be able to sponsor your parent or grandparent to become a permanent resident under the Family Class. • If you sponsor your parent or grandparent to come to Canada as a permanent resident, you must make every reasonable effort to provide for your own essential needs and those of your parent or grandparent. • You are responsible for supporting your parent or grandparent financially when he or she arrives. • As a sponsor, you must make sure your parent or grandparent does not need to seek social assistance from the Canadian government.

ELIGIBILITY UNDER PARENTAL SPONSORSHIP:- • There must be a sponsor for any relative immigrating to Canada within the Family Class. • Applicants for permanent residence must go through medical, criminal and background checks. An applicant with a criminal record may not be allowed to enter Canada. People who pose a risk to Canada's security are also not allowed to enter Canada. An applicant may have to provide a certificate from police authorities in the home country. • When you sponsor a parent or grandparent to become a permanent resident of Canada, you must promise to support that person and their dependents financially.

  5. If you have previously sponsored relatives who later turned to the Canadian government for financial assistance, you may not be allowed to sponsor another person. You, as a sponsor and the sponsored relative must sign a sponsorship agreement that commits you to provide financial support for your relative if necessary. This agreement also states that the person becoming a permanent resident will make every effort to support themselves. Dependent children under age 19 do not have to sign this agreement. You must promise to provide financial support for the relative and any other eligible relatives accompanying them for a period of three to ten years, depending on their age and relationship to you.

WHO IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO SPONSOR A PARENT OR GRANDPARENT? • You are not eligible to sponsor your parents and grandparents if:- • You are less than 18 years old. • You won’t live in Canada when you apply to sponsor your parents and grandparents. • You are not a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. • You are a temporary resident, that is you are visiting, studying or working in Canada on a visa or permit. • Your permanent residence application is still in process or not yet processed.

You are in jail, prison or some court procedures against you is on process. • You didn’t paid backan immigration loan or a performance bond or a court-ordered family support payments such as alimony or child support. • You are declared bankrupt. • You didn’t give the financial support you agreed to when you signed a sponsorship agreement to sponsor someone else in the past. • You cannot legally stay in Canada and must leave the country because you received a Removal Order from Court of Law due to some high level criminal offences or sexual harassment or involving fraud cases or engaged in any activity that is against the laws of Canada or Canadian peoples.

  8. WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE TO SPONSOR A PARENT OR GRANDPARENT? SUBMIT THE INTEREST TO SPONSOR FORM:- The first step to sponsor your parents or grandparents is filling out the interest to sponsor form. After the form closes, the immigration officials review submissions and check for duplicates. 2. GET AN INVITATION TO APPLY:- The officials out there randomly selects and invites potential sponsors to apply to sponsor their parents and grandparents. Do you know this year, the Canada government will send enough invitations and they will also make sure that they can accept 10,000 applications!

GET THE APPLICATION PACKAGE:- • Avoid using outdated forms and yes, do not start filling out your application unless you are invited to apply. • The application package includes the: • document checklist for you and the people you want to sponsor • forms you need to fill out • instruction guide to help you and your family members fill out the forms 4. PAY YOUR APPLICATION FEES:- You need to pay the processing fees for you, the persons you are sponsoring and their dependents. Also you need to pay the Right of Permanent Residence Fees and the biometrics fee.

  10. 5. THIRD PARTY FEES:- You may need to pay third parties foryour and your parents medical exam and a police certificates. 5. SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION:- The Canadian immigration office must receive your complete application within 60 days. The final date of submission is specified in your invitation. The mailing instructions are also mentioned in the application guide. You may need to use a courier service to submit your application, if you want to since the courier services will help you track your application. You are also free to use regular mails. It may take 8 to 12 months to process successfully your application. The officials may reach out to you to get additional details of yours.
