ThenewmoonisthesignofthestartofnewIslamicmonththatcomeswiththefestivitiesthroughouttheMuslimworld.TheholymonthofRamadanisallaboutfastingthatbringsasenseoftogethernesswhichgivesabreakfromdailyroutinelife.Notonlythis,Ramadanisawayoftrainingindividualsandisacatharsis.MuslimsareforbiddentodrinkoreatfromFajrtillMaghrib. Onemaydeducethatnoteatingordrinkingforsuchlongperiodoftimemaycauseagitation,short-temper,andfrustrationwhichisnotthecasehere.Ontheotherhand,thismonthisabigmeansofinstigatingempathy,tolerance,andpatienceamongfastingobservers.Ramadanisthetimeofreflection,introspectionandveraciousbroodinguponindividuals’ codesandmoralconduct. SenseofTogetherness DuringRamadanweseeourmothersandsisterspreparingrejuvenatingdrinksandscrumptiousfoodforiftar.Itunitesfamily,friends,andneighborhoodinharmonywherethemostpreciousmealofthedayissharedthatmarksthesenseoftogetherness. Whentherumblingsoundsaremadebyourstomachneartheiftartimeitisthetimetorealizethatwhatonlyadayisforusissadlyalifetimeforneedyandpoorpeople.However,thesepeoplestillfastduringRamadanthatdepictshowtheirfaithdoesnotwaiver.Thisistrulyapplaudingandaspiringconduct.

Ramadan teachesussocialharmonybyeatingtogetherinharmonyanddisregardingnuancesingender,socialstatus,cast,andrace.Attheendofeachday,TaraweehprayerwhichisanextendedformofprayerinvokesMuslimbrotherhoodelucidatingthesignificanceofunity. SpiritualGrowth Muslimscometogetherandbecomeswholealthoughitisdividedintofragments,pieces,andpartsontheworldmap.Allfocusisoneliminatingsuperficialdifferencesandevokingtolerance,peace,andunity.ThusRamadanteachesthelessonsofrefection,empathyandspiritualgrowthwhichisapplicableineveryreligionoftheworld.
