Trivedi Effect - Physical, Spectroscopic and Thermal Characterization of Biofield treated Myristic acid

Myristic acid has been extensively used for fabrication of phase change materials for thermal energy storage applications. The objective of present research was to investigate the influence of biofield treatment on physical and thermal properties of myristic acid. The study was performed in two groups (control and treated). The control group remained as untreated, and biofield treatment was given to treated group. The control and treated myristic acid were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and Laser particle size analyzer. XRD results revealed alteration in intensity of peaks as well as significant increase in crystallite size (27.07%) of treated myristic acid with respect to control. DSC study showed increase in melting temperature of treated myristic acid as compared to control. Nevertheless, significant change (10.16%) in latent heat of fusion (∆H) was observed in treated myristic acid with respect to control. TGA analysis of treated myristic acid showed less weight loss (31.33%) as compared to control sample (60.49%). This may be due to increase in thermal stability of treated myristic acid in comparison with control. FT-IR results showed increase in frequency of –CH2 and C=O stretching vibrations, probably associated with enhanced bond strength and force constant of the respective bonds. The particle size analyzer showed significant decrease in average particle size (d50 and d99) of treated myristic acid with respect to control. Overall, the results showed significant alteration in physical, spectroscopic and thermal properties of myristic acid. Solvation Study of Neem Oil in Aqueous Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate at different Temperatures

The plant diseases have significant role in agriculture in terms of reduction in yield and economy. In agriculture, for thousands of years, people have been using neem oil as a natural insecticide, fungicide and bactericide. Neem pesticides have been widely used to kill or manage the population of pest. Neem oil is hydrophobic in nature in order to emulsify it in water for application purpose, it must be formulated with appropriate surfactants. In the present study, neem oil was mixed with sodium dodecyl sulphate SDS . The density, viscosity and ultrasonic velocity of aqueous solutions of SDS with neem oil have been measured. The compressibility behaviour of solutions provides very useful information related to solute and solvent interactions. The solubility of neem oil has been investigated by the estimated values of solvation parameters. The experimental data have been used to calculate the solvation parameters such as adiabatic compressibility, molal hydration number, apparent molal compressibility, apparent molal volume, limiting apparent molal compressibility, limiting apparent molal volume and their constants and viscosity co efficients A and B of Jones Dole equation. Based on the results, the nature and types of interactions in the solutions are discussed. The growth performance of cowpea crop in pot culture experiment is also analysed. After manifestation, periodical records of symptoms of diseases due to insects are noted. The biometric observations of crops at frequent intervals are enumerated. Evaluation of Dispersion Potential for Some Problem Soils in Central Myanmar

Dispersive soils which occur in central region of Myanmar are easily erodible and serious problem of stability of embankments, earth dams, earths and earth retaining structures. These soils are found in regions where the annual rainfall is less than 800 mm. Dispersive soil is structurally unstable and the presence of dispersive soil is indicated by occurrence of erosion gullies, sink holes, spew holes and piping. In some parts of the central Myanmar, dispersive soils have to be used for construction purpose since no other soil material is available. Dispersion only occurs in non saline or rain water. If dispersive soils have been used in the construction of earth dams and embankments, serious piping and failures are occurred. In Myanmar, some problems are found in central region of Myanmar. The study soil is investigated by emersion test in field and then physical tests are done in Yangon Technological University and chemical tests are done in Irrigation and Management of Water Utilization Department in Myanmar. According to these tests results, most of the study soils are dispersive.
