For example , government schools are not allowed to celebrate any religious festivals neither they can include religious songs in morning prayer. • Indian state has adopted a policy of non interference in religious matters. In order to respect the sentiments of all religions equally , India hhas made certain exception for some religious groups.
INDIAN SECULARISM • India has adopted a strategy of invention in the religious matters in two ways • Firstly , it intervenes to prevent discrimination for example untouchability is a Hindu social practice however Indian state intervenes to end this practice as it violates the fundamental rights of lower castes . • Secondly it intervenes in the form of support in th religious based personal laws of communities. for example the Indian constitution grants the right to religious communities to set up their own education institution.
