There are four subspecies of Green Winged Macaws: The nominate subspecies, which is the most common and widespread; The red-throated macaw, which is found in central and southern Brazil; The blue-and-yellow macaw, which inhabits eastern Paraguay and northeastern Argentina; and The buffy-headed macaw, which is found in western Bolivia and eastern Peru.
