Whitewashed OR Washed WhiteA CONTRAST OF HYPOCRISY WITH OBEDIENCE The Bible mentions two different types of white washing: In Matthew 23:27-28 it is written: ”Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness.     "So you, too, outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.”

And he said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”

Whitewashed OR Washed WhiteA CONTRAST OF HYPOCRISY WITH OBEDIENCE THOSE WHITEWASHED: • Are Conservatives, But Live Contrary To God’s Word • They failed to lead others to salvation • (Matt 23:13; 15:3-9; See I Tim. 4:16) • Misusing religion for money and prestige • (Matt. 23:14; See II Tim. 3:2-6; Tit. 1:10-11; I Tim 6:3-8) • Made others worse by making distinctions where God never did • (Matt. 23:15-22; See Acts 20:27; I Pet. 4:11)

Whitewashed OR Washed WhiteA CONTRAST OF HYPOCRISY WITH OBEDIENCE THOSE WASHED WHITE: • Are Faithful And Continue In God’s Word • The garment only remains white by continued service • (Rev. 3:4-5, 18) • Those who are found righteous will be in white with the Lord • (Rev. 6:11; 7:9-14) • Only the righteous will stand with the Lord in white for the judgment • (Rev. 19:8, 14)
