  2. Considered a hospitality industry legend, the renowned Sri Lankan businessman, Thirukumar Nadesan, has recently faced baseless allegations of wrongdoing for quite a while. All these cases are either unsupported by facts or contain misleading information to defame the growing reputation of the leading industrialist. The Thirukumar Nadesan Case was filed over for the misappropriation of public funds and it claimed that the businessman has misused these funds to construct a mansion in Malwana. On 25th March, the Gampaha High Court called up both the accused to present their case against the court. The hearing in the Thirukumar Malwana Mansion case ended up with the statement given by the witness. He was the concerned contractor in the case who testified in the court that he has not been involved in reporting any complaint against the accused and refused to accept that the signature placed in the statement belonged to him. The court then decided to refuse all the further evidence to examine the case as the testified had refused to file any complaint. The court then decided to contradict the final verdict that both Basil and Thirukumar cannot be continued to remain accused and are acquitted and released from the case. On the next scheduled hearing, both defence party joined the court session to continue the court’s proceedings. The witness brought up the defence and stated that Thirukumar Nadesan is not anyhow connected with the case and is not at all associated with the connection. He was neither aware of the fact that a property is going to be constructed on the related land. Apart from that, when he got this information, he called him several times to raise questions about how the property has been built over there. The witness also stated to the court that he wanted to get himself free from the attachments of other accused and that’s why he gave the false statement to the honourable court.
