USA Health Secretary Xavier Becerra expressed in a recent video message to yearly ministerial meeting of the WHO that the origin of Phase 2 of the Covid-19 study must be investigated with the transparent terms of reference. The Health Secretary did not explicitly mentioned China, where in December 2019 the first human cases of coronavirus emerged in the city of Wuhan. Still there is a debate going on related to the origin of this Virus. This issue is hotly contested. A WHO-led team spent four weeks in and around Wuhan city in January and February for the investigation of origin of the virus. On the basis of the visit WHO-team had prepared a survey jointly with Chinese Scientists in which it was said that the virus could have been transmitted from bats to humans and introduction of this virus through lab incident in Wuhan considered extremely unlikely. Recently WHO spokesperson on Monday while answering to question about the mission in Wuhan said that the agency is reviewing the report at the technical level. He also expressed that the further studies will be needed in a few range of areas. Following that USA, expressed that more transparent investigation is essential to figure out the origin of the virus and related to the early outbreak of the second phase.
