  1. HVAC Maintenance Checklist 1. Turn the power off to your HVAC system. Most outside units have a disconnector located only a few feet away. Most disconnectors consist of a handle covered by a lid or panel. Pulling on this handle will cut off power to the unit but not the flow of electricity to the disconnector. In other words, the disconnector will remain “live.” Therefore, you must cover the disconnector and ensure that none of its other areas are exposed before proceeding. For added safety, you can locate the breaker that controls your HVAC system and shut it off at the breaker box. 2. Inspect and replace your air filter as needed. A clean air filter is required for proper HVAC operation and can aid in improving indoor air quality. Also, look into HVAC Contractor Portland OR Services.

  2. 3. Clean any debris from around your outdoor unit. Leaves, dirt, and other debris can accumulate around your unit and impede airflow. 4. Check all hoses and pipes for leaks or damage and repair or replace them as necessary. 5. Inspect your ductwork for any damage or leaks and repair as necessary. 6. Have a professional contractor check your system annually for potential issues. Regular maintenance can help extend the life of your HVAC system and keep it running efficiently.
