When you start the vehicle or when it changes gears, the issue could be most noticeable. The entire vehicle will feel as though it is shaking uncontrollably. It is clear from this that the distributor cap is defective. Check MOT history of your car to determine if a faulty distributor cap was the reason for a failed emissions test on a previous MOT test.
