  1. How to Write a Synopsis for Your PhD Research A synopsis can be said as a detailed summary of the research work that you are doing during your PhD. There is a difference between synopsis and abstract, synopsis has to be submitted while starting your research work. The synopsis is just a write-up that contains the details of what you are going to research, its significance and how you will perform your research. A synopsis is just a summary of your research work where you can give the details of your plans for performing the research. It is submitted before initiating the research work. Mostly you need to write a synopsis after seeking admission in online distance courses for PhD programme.

  2. Here are general steps to write a synopsis for your research- 1) At first, you need to write the title of your research thesis followed by the introduction. In the introduction, you have to mention your current knowledge about the field of research, the gaps and how your research will help in filling these gaps. 2)The next step is to write a literature review, where you have to appraise the published works related to your field performed by others. You can mention what you can do in your research to expand those works. 3) In aim and objectives, you have to explain your aim and objectives for performing this research. It should be very clear, concise and easily understandable. 4) The next part of the synopsis is to write the research methodology. It contains specific procedures or techniques that are to be used for identifying, selecting, process and analysing the information about the topic.

  3. 5) In the outline of your synopsis, you have to explain how you will perform your research, the tools and equipment you will be using, the method of collecting data, methods you will use to analyse the accumulated data. 6) In references, you have to mention the list of all studies that you refer to in the entire process of writing a synopsis. Usually, the university itself provides the format of listing your references. 7) In the end, you need to write the conclusion of your research. In this part, you have to again summarize your PhD research. You will mention why your research is required and the limitations of your research work while pursuing part time phdprogramme.
