  1. Why University Ranking is not the right metric for choosing a University While looking for a college or university, most of the students get overwhelmed by looking at the wide array of opportunities in their interested field. One of the most influential factors once you start narrowing down your options is short-listing of universities by using university ranking data. Every year, different organisations publish the rankings for the best universities in the world and this becomes one of the major reasons for many students with their university selection. However, one should understand that university rankings aren’t always the best metric to use while selecting universities. The biggest issue with university rankings which is often overlooked is that the rankings vary between publishers. Think about it - if a university is the best in the world, it ought to be best on all the rankings as well, right? However, this does not work this way. The rankings take different things into account – while some focus on a university’s R&D, others might consider other importance such as placements or salary packages. Poornima University, one of the best Top private university in rajasthan, is ranked amongst the top universities in India and is known for highest number of placements with best packages in Rajasthan. It is important to select a university based on what you are looking for and not on rankings that don’t concern you. Another reason is although some publishers offer rankings based on R&D of that particular university, however, it only shows the overall performance of the university and not the subject area you are interested in. These rankings rarely consider the real world experiences of alumni. Poornima University is one of the Top MBA college in Jaipur that offers real-world experiences through workshops, internships and survey camps. It is important to interact with as many alumni as possible in order to get actual insights on the performance of your respective department. Most of the rankings offer ranking the institution as a whole. Although it is arguable that an institution ranked first is unlikely to be poor for the subject you are interested in, doesn’t it make sense to know the specific ranking for your course over the institution as a whole? Look for rankings based on your chosen Department and remember, nothing will give you better insights as what your manual research and interaction with faculty as well as former students can give.
