Below are some tips for creating a great senior portrait photography sessions to meet and exceed your clients’ expectations. Ask Questions In Advance During your initial discussion with your client, try to completely understand what they want. A good approach is to ask questions and chat with them to understand their personalities and goals. The better you can understand your client, the better you will be able to capture their portraits. Personalize the Session If your client is an arts major, ask them to display their talent and projects. Suggest a photo session in their art studio to bring their creativity into their senior photographs. If you have a

Wardrobe Choices Besides planning the photo shoot, a senior portrait photographer should also suggest what to wear for the portrait session. Some photographers recommend that their clients plan wardrobe choices in advance while others do not mind to photographing their clients in whatever they are wearing. However, many senior portrait photographers recommend their clients to bring three outfits including one casual outfit like jeans and top, one formal outfit, and one outfit that illustrates their personality like sports jersey, school or dance uniform, or a prom dress. Location During your first appointment, you should discuss with your client their preferred locations for senior portrait photography. Most clients prefer senior portraits taken at an outdoor location, and many clients choose their location based on their interests, including sports fields, parks, school grounds, or even their favorite neighborhood. Of course, the photo shoot can take place inside a studio also.
