  1. Know These Facts Before Attending The Karnak Show Egypt The renowned Karnak Temple of Egypt is a city in itself. It also happens to be the largest religious site of the ancient world. Most of the structures of the temple date back to over four thousand years.

  2. Every year, hundreds and thousands of tourists arrive at Karnak to witness its glory and enigma. Since it enjoys an unbeatable reputation, anyone who wishes to explore this temple must learn a few things about it. After all, such a site deserves all the reverence that you can give it. Besides, without a bit of information in your inventory, exploring Egypt may not be as enjoyable as it should be.

  3. Headless Before you book tickets to the sound and light Karnak show Egypt, you must visit the temple at daytime. During your excursion, you will notice that many of the statues are missing their heads. A new Pharaoh will never tolerate the city’s previous ruler’s icons. So these pharaohs severed the heads of the figures in an attempt to erase all memoirs of the former ruler. Apart from that, vandals also had their eyes on the constructions of Egypt. They destroyed many statues in the hopes of filching any relics they could find.

  4. Ram-headed sphinxes Sphinx statues with the head of ram are quite prevalent in the shrines of Egypt. You will spot them while exploring the sanctuary of Karnak at day and on the Karnak show Egypt at night. The ram is a representation of calmness and resilience against the war. It used to offer solace to the commoners when Egyptians empires battled against each other. The statues feature a pharaoh standing between the paws of a ram-headed sphinx. It means that the sphinx is loyal to the ruler and will offer protection to the pharaoh.

  5. Significant women: If you see a woman’s figure standing between a giant statue of a pharaoh, then don’t harbor any misunderstandings. It is a sign that the lady is significant to the king. It is a display of honor and reverence along with the symbolism of sexual relationship as well. All the figures of women in Karnak are smaller than the pharaohs. However, it doesn’t mean that the kings and the regular folks had no respect for the ladies.

  6. Local materials The temple of Karnak is at Luxor, but it isn’t the only construction worth exploring. All the buildings, figures, and structures include materials sourced from the foothills of nearby mountains. Colored hieroglyphs adorn the temple pillars, walls, and ceilings. The paints came from precious gemstones, plants and minerals acquired from the Nile and the surrounding mountains.

  7. Four obelisks Originally, there were four obelisks in the Karnak Temple. You can spot two of them on display on the walls inside the shrine. The two shafts are at different points from each other. In spite of that, people suffer from an optical illusion and think that they are at the same height. The authorities are working on restoring the third obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut. The fourth obelisk is at Place De La Concorde in Paris, France.

  8. Explore Luxor Apart from the Karnak Temple, there is much to explore at Luxor. So, don’t restrict yourself to the shrine of Karnak and the sound and light show. Luxor bears the title of being ‘the gift of the Nile.’ The word ‘Luxor’ is Arabic, and it means ‘the Palaces’ or ‘the castles.’ When you see the Karnak Temple and the other instances, you will realize the profoundness of Luxor. It is the world’s most renowned site to see tombs and temples.
