  2. It’s all about caring relationships. Staff need to embrace the concept of consistent assignment which foster the creation of true community. Consistent assignment refers to the same caregivers consistently caring for the same residents every time they are on duty. Building strong relationships between residents and staff in order to improve residents’ quality of care and quality of life is at the heart of consistent assignment. ConsistentAssignment

  3. Benefits of Consistent Assignments • Resident’s receive Better Care/Better • CNA’s feel empowered • Higher Staff Retention Rates • Decreased Call-ins • CNA’s feel valued • Promotes Teamwork

  4. Getting Started • Have Shift Meetings with the CNA’s • Explain Consistent Assignments • Have CNA’s help choose Guidelines for their hallway • Have CNA’s rate residents and choose resident assignments • Meet regularly with the CNA’s to reevaluate groups to see if they still make sense

  5. Relationship Building • Fosters a place for staff/residents to be a community • Better Teamwork/Communication between shifts and departments • Allows Decision Making to occur close to the resident

  6. Having Fun from Learning • Creating Success-not managing Behaviors • Cheer the Teams on • Provide Training for Staff to facilitate being a team player • Empower CNA’s by having them be a part of Care Planning of Residents.
