  2. Create Hosts and Host Groups • PC’s, Servers or any “Host” can be grouped together in order to simplify creation of rules, reduce the number of rules and decrease complexity. • A “Host Group” is any group of hosts. For instance you might want to group all of your web servers or all of the PC’s in your accounting department so that you only have to create rules once for the whole group. • From the ALSMS Navigator window Click on the Host Groups Folder. • Right click and select New Host Group. • Name your new group and fill in the description.

  3. Create Hosts and Host Groups

  4. Create Hosts and Host Groups • Right Click and select New. • Fill in the Address or Range and Host Description. • Note that you may enter individual IP addresses, a range of addresses (192.168.1.20-192.168.1.40) or an entire subnet (192.168.2.0). • You can also “Nest” other host groups into a group. So for instance maybe all of your sales managers are in a group and all of your sales people are in another group. You can create a group called “sales department and nest both groups together. This way you can use the three different groups in rules according to what they are authorized to do.
