  1. Sleep8 CPAP cleaner - Frequently Asked Questions Q: How often do I need to sanitize my CPAP supplies? A: Sleep8 recommends that all PAP machine tubing, and masks be sanitized daily to reduce the risk of harmful bacteria growing in these that can lead to respiratory sickness. Bacteria can multiply exponentially even within 24 hours. Q: What needs to go in the bag to be sanitized? A: You are able to safely sanitize the mask and tubing using Sleep8 CPAP cleaner . If you choose to clean your water chamber, please be sure to remove and empty and dry the water chamber thoroughly before placing it in your Sleep8 bag. Many CPAP manufacturers do NOT recommend that the machine itself be subjected to ozone sanitation. This is one of the benefits of Sleep8 , we do not need to subject your machine to ozone sanitation to clean your mask, tube, and water chamber. Certain other cleaners may void your CPAP's warranty. Q: Can Sleep8 sanitize my BiPAP supplies? A: Yes. Sleep8 can be used to sanitize any PAP's (Positive Airway Pressure) mask, as well as it's heated or non-heated tubing. Q: Can Sleep8 sanitize heated and non-heated tubing with no additional adapters? A: Yes. Sleep8 will safely sanitize all CPAP tubing, heated and non-heated without any adapter needed. Q: Can I travel with the Sleep8 system? A: Yes. Sleep8 is portable and can be easily packed in a suitcase or carry-on bag for air travel. Q: How long can I use the filtered bag? A: Sleep8 recommends changing your bag when you change your CPAP supplies, or every 90 days. Q: Should I wash the Sleep8 bag? A: If the bag becomes soiled, you may wipe it clean with a dry cloth. The bag contains a filter that should be kept dry. The Sleep8’s activated oxygen system fully sanitizes whatever is in the bag, as well as the interior of the bag itself. Q: How do I clean the Sleep8 device? A: If the device becomes soiled, you may wipe it clean with a dry cloth. Do not get the device wet, as doing so will void the warranty. What is the black rectangle near the top of the bag? A: This is a charcoal filter. It safely filters the activated oxygen that is pumped into the bag during the sanitization process. Q: What is the white circle port/button on the filtered bag and why does air come out of it? A: This is where the filtered air is released from the bag during the sanitization process.

  2. Q: Does the filtered bag inflate? A: The Sleep8 bag may or may not inflate depending on how quickly the air is going out of the bag’s filter. Q: May I use a different mini USB cord charger? A: Voltage capacities can be different on other chargers. Therefore, Sleep8 cannot warranty the device if it is charged using a non-Sleep8 charger. The Sleep8 charger is UL listed and calibrated to provide the best current flow to optimize battery life. Q: What is covered under the Sleep8 warranty? A: The Sleep8 device warranty covers manufacturer defects for 18 months; the charger warranty covers manufacturer defects for 1 year; and the bag warranty covers manufacturer defects for up to 3 months. Q: Why is there a “clean” scent on my mask after sanitizing? A: The "clean" smell that is sometimes described as similar to the scent air after a heavy rain or thunderstorm. In-fact the scent in both cases is caused by ozone. Ozone occurs naturally after lightning storms, and is also the sanitizing agent we use. If you do not like the smell, just let the tube sit outside the bag for a while. Further, you can run your CPAP for a few minutes before you put it on to further reduce the scent. Q: What is ozone? A: Ozone is the sanitizing agent “activated oxygen,” also known as trioxygen, due to the fact that it is comprised of three oxygen atoms Q: Is ozone safe? A: Yes. Once ozone, or “activated oxygen” comes in contact with the air it quickly dissipates. When it is concentrated and safely contained within the Sleep8 bag, it works as a sanitizing agent to kill live bacteria and any living particles. For your safety, the Sleep8 device will only function when the Sleep8 filtered bag is correctly attached, and the filtered bag should be changed every 3 months. Q: Should everything be dry before starting Sleep8? A: Yes. For example, be sure to empty the water chamber before adding it to the bag. Some moisture is fine, but don’t add water inside the bag. Q: How big is the Sleep8 Bag? A: The Sleep8 Bag is a general wedge shape. It measures approximately 15 inches long, 12.5 inches wide, and 6 inches tall at the base. Q: Can an HSA or FSA account be used? A: Yes, you can use your HSA or FSA account. We are payable under 9274.

  3. Q: Is Sleep8 covered by insurance? A: At this time, Sleep8 is not covered by insurance. However, you can use your HSA/FSA accounts under code 9274 for payment. Q: Can a whole CPAP machine be cleaned with Sleep8? A: We don't recommend it. The only sections that need to be sanitized are your mask, tube, and water chamber. In-fact, many CPAP manufacturer warranties may be voided if the machine is subjected to ozone sanitation. Sleep8 is unique in ozone sanitation in that it does not subject the machine to ozone. Q: Can Sleep8 be used to clean the water chamber? A: Yes. If the water chamber is removable and dried, it can be added to the filtered bag for sanitizing. Q: Can Sleep8 sanitize my mask and headgear, even when other cleaners cannot? A: Yes, Sleep8 will fully sanitize any CPAP mask and straps, including the Fit Lift Mask by Respironics. Q: Will Sleep8 discolor my mask? A: That depends. To avoid any discoloration of your mask, it is important you wipe your mask with a clean cloth or CPAP wipe, prior to placing it in the Sleep8 Sanitizing Bag. Certain oils from skin or cosmetics can discolor when making contact with ozone. Q: Can Sleep8 make my CPAP tube and mask last longer? A: Not necessarily. Sleep8 is designed to sanitize your CPAP equipment and accessories, not extend the life of them. For a general guideline on when to reorder CPAP equipment, see below for Medicare’s schedule or call your insurance company to see when you would be eligible for new supplies. (Many insurance companies follow Medicare’s resupply schedule) CPAP Item & Replacement Frequency CPAP Mask - Every 3 Months CPAP Headgears - Every 3-6 months CPAP Tubing - Every 3 months Disposable Filter - 2 new filters every month Non-disposable Filters - 2 new filters every 6 months CPAP Chin Strap - Every 6 months Full Face Mask - Every 3 months Oral CPAP Mask - Every 3 months Humidifier Chamber - Every 6 months CPAP Machine - Every 3-5 years or as necessary Q: Can I charge my Sleep8 and use it at the same time? A: Yes. Your Sleep8’s unique charging system allows for simultaneous charging and cleaning.

  4. Q: Does my mask need to be wiped with a cloth or CPAP wipe prior to use? A: We strongly encourage you to wipe out your mask with a CPAP wipe, or damp cloth prior to placing it in the Sleep8 Sanitizing Bag. Certain skin oils and cosmetics including creams and lotions can leave residue on your mask which can react to ozone. It is advisable to ensure your CPAP mask is free of any oils prior to using the Sleep8. Q: Does Sleep8 work with the unique DreamStation Go 12mm tubing? A: Sleep8 is currently enhancing our bag design to also universally support DreamStation Go 12mm tubing. As a workaround, you can use your DreamStation Go mask tubing adapter to safely connect to your Sleep8 bag. You can safely leave your mask inside the bag during the cleaning cycle. Q: What do the alarm cues on the device mean? A: E2 (Fan Failure) - “E2” will pulse and the device will beep. Contact customer service support 888-549- 9799. E1 (Low Battery) - “E1” will pulse and the device will beep. Recharge your Sleep8. Note: The device will function while being recharged. X (Device Not Connected Properly) - “X” will display next to “O₃” and device will beep 30 for seconds. Press the power button to cancel the alarm. Q: Is the Sleep8 Sanitizing Bag recyclable? A: Yes, we believe in the environment. Our bags are recycle friendly. Q: How Long Does Sleep8 Take to charge? A: The unit takes about one and one-half (1.5) hours to fully charge. Q: Does the Sleep8 device use chemicals to clean? A: No, your Sleep8 device converts room air into activated oxygen (O3) by adding one little molecule of oxygen, an atom. There are no added chemicals, solvents or liquids used by your device to sanitize. Click the link for more information about Sleep8 CPAP cleaner reviews video on YouTube
