  2. Astigmatism may be a common type of refractive error. It’s a condition within which the eye doesn't focus light evenly onto the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. What is refraction? Refraction is that the bending of light because it passes through one object to a different. Vision happens once light rays are bent (refracted) as they pass through the cornea and the lens. The light is then centered on the retina.
