  1. All About Ayurveda – Certification in an Ancient Art What is Ayurveda? Ayurveda is a type of holistic medicine that originated in India. One of the oldest types of medicine still in existence today, the word Ayurveda comes from the Sanskrit words “ayur”, meaning life, and “veda” meaning science or knowledge. The overall knowledge and practice of ayurveda is so old, it predates written record and text language - having originally been passed down through oral tradition. Ayurvedic medicine utilizes the connection between the patient’s body and mind as well as natural and spiritual healing techniques. Using substances with healing properties well known to many cultures – such as turmeric, frankincense and other herbs and organic resins - treatments focus on improving overall health and

  2. managing conditions without harsh chemicals. Some conditions that may benefit from Ayurvedic therapies include:  Arthritis  Fibromyalgia and other inflammatory conditions  Anxiety, depression, schizophrenia and other mental health and mood disorders  Immune disorders  Diabetes  Chronic fatigue syndrome Though more widely practiced in Asian countries, Ayurveda certification can also be obtained in some parts of the western world - bringing this holistic healing art to new patients. 3. injury and illness after the fact, these programs bring ancient healing techniques into the classroom - helping students prepare for a career in holistic medicine. Putting Ayurveda to Work in the Modern World It may seem strange to some to pursue a certification in such an old and alternative form of medicine. However, with so many modern Americans experiencing regular pain, sleep problems and mental health issues, Ayurveda makes perfect sense as an addition to their overall care plans. By securing an Ayurveda certification, prospective providers can ensure that they can be a valuable part of those plans.

  4. Today’s Ayurvedic academic programs provide evidence-based, outcome-focused education for students, helping them to improve their own health and well-being as well as that of their patients and pupils. Modern life is increasingly busy and stressful, and Ayurveda seeks to address the resulting fatigue and discomfort by teaching balance, inward focus and natural, drug-free healing. By integrating this ancient form of medicine into today’s powerful systems of care, patients can see benefits that don’t simply improve acute conditions. They will learn to maintain their health on a physical, mental and spiritual level for the long-term - preventing future issues and creating a better outlook for themselves and their loved ones.

  5. In this way, an art and science with roots in the ancient world can improve the future of practitioners and patients alike.
