  3. ABOUT SIMON & PAUL In the year 17 B.C., two friends, Simon and Paul, decided they wanted more in life, so they set out to become merchants. They went into business together and decided to open a clothing shop in Rome. Simon’s family was Greek, and Paul’s family was Roman. Both friends had very different styles, but they combined them to create one style, which was later known as Greco-Roman. Their shop was exclusive and catered only to the elite in Rome. The style and patterns of their clothes were nothing like anyone had ever seen before. Soon, their business venture became a success, and the elite from all over the empire wanted to get their hands on their clothes. It became such a huge success that the Roman emperor at that time, (Caesar Augustus), wanted them to personally design his clothes and military armor, as well as the military uniforms for him and his generals. For years, the business was doing phenomenal, and both Simon and Paul became very wealthy men. A few years later, Simon died unexpectedly, leaving Paul full control of the business. Paul left Simon’s name on the business but put his face as the trademark. The brand has been catering to the elite for over 1,000 years and will continue to do so for the next 1,000 years to come.
