  1. Can Neck Pain Cause Nerve Damage? Neck pain is experienced by almost every person. A severe neck pain starts in the neck and radiates down in one or both the arms. The symptoms of neck pain can be pressure, burning, aching, tightness, stiffness, etc. Severe neck pain can be very extreme and cause difficulty in performing the daily tasks. Many disorders or diseases that involve tissues in the neck bones, muscles, nerves, or ligaments can be a reason for neck pain. The main causes of neck pain are disc degeneration, strain, narrowing of the spinal cord, trauma, muscle inflammation. Injury, falls, car accidents, age, etc can lead to degeneration of the bones or joints of the cervical spine. The serious problem in the cervical spine can cause nerve damage. When the nerve in the neck is compressed or irritated, it can cause cervical radiculopathy or pinched nerves. The damage from a pinched nerve can be minor or severe. It may have long-lasting problems and thus, it is very important to get a diagnosis or treatment for neck pain and nerve damage.
