  3. ABOUT UNIVERSITY The University was founded by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in Venkataramannagudem, near Tadepalligudem in West Godavari District, under G.O.Ms.No.134 dated 26-06- 2007. It is the country's second Horticultural University. Andhra Pradesh, as the leading producer of mango, oil palm, chillies, turmeric, sweet orange, and papaya, as well as the second largest producer of total fruits and spices, richly deserves a Horticultural University to increase productivity, sustain productivity, and commercialise horticulture in the state..

Currently, the campus has 2 P.G. courses to meet the needs of 130 Post Graduate students and 27 research scholars pursuing their Msc. and Ph.D., and is supported by 77 faculty members, including Assistant Professors, Teaching Associates, Teaching Assistants, and Resource Faculty, as well as 191 non-teaching staff members. Mission:H owever, uplifting economically and socially disadvantaged students via excellent education and taking up community-oriented initiatives through the best exploitation of human resources to tackle contemporary problems. In addition, the institution creates a competitive environment for students to seize new possibilities in the national and global arenas. Also, the university forms alliances with prestigious educational institutions. Vision: Moreover, to create a conducive environment that will allow the university to act as an agent of sociocultural emancipation and economic empowerment of the underprivileged masses, as well as transformation through innovativeness and outreach curriculum, where education is not just a transaction of syllabus, but an effort to ignite, enlighten an individual through the imparting of clear free knowledge. Moreover, education is the only solace for the community to escape from superstitions with a view to providing free, quality education and wisdom.

Objective: However, horticulture development in the state of Andhra Pradesh with the purpose of providing nutritional security to the population and boosting farmer profitability via the development of appropriate technology and personnel. Likewise, the University is steadfast in its commitment to assist society by establishing and managing outreach programmes aimed at providing ongoing educational support to those in need in order to satisfy their urgent requirements. Also, the University is a torchbearer for understanding the region's cultural past via the potential of the consequences of social, political, economic, and technological dynamics for enlightenment. Moreover, maintaining a balance between academics and professional exposure via mutual reinforcement of the model and innovative teaching- learning process.

  7. HISTORY However, the university began operations on June 26, 2007. Likewise, it was managed by Commissioner and Principal Secretary to the Government, ATM, as the Special Officer, with assistance from an Officer on Special Duty and a Coordinator drawn from the Achrya NG Ranga Agricultural University. Moreover, in the 2007-08 academic year, three new Horticulture Colleges Venkataramannagudem in West Godavari District, one at Mojerla in Mahaboobnagar District, and one at Anantharajupet in Kadapa District.   9. INFRASTRUCTURE The Dr. YSR Horticulture University provides a great learning experience to its students. Additionally, DR. YSR HORTICULTURE has also ensured to make the student experience better as well. Now, read below to know more about the Infrastructure at the Dr. YSR Horticulture University: Library: The University library opened in 2008 with a minimum collection of 100 volumes and an open access system. In 2008, the campus's central library was constructed. This was placed in such a way that it is easily accessible to both students and instructors. In 2009, once the University was granted its status, the library was divided into two branches: The Library for Arts Courses and The Library for Science Courses.

  10. INFRASTRUCTURE Hostel: Since Dr. YSR Horticulture University is a premier institution of learning in India. Therefore, it witnesses admissions of a large number of students from India and abroad as well. That is why it provides excellent hostel facilities for male and female students across its campuses. Moreover, it offers single and double accommodations as well. Computer Centre: Furthermore, DR. YSR Horticulture provides excellent resources to its students. It further provides e- resources with the help of an ICT network available at the computer centres. Apart from providing internet services, it also offers other facilities for its students and staff as well.

YSR Horticulture brings its WUS Health Center to its students that provides advanced health services. It lies on the Main Campus of the University and provides health facilities to its members and beneficiaries. Furthermore, it operates from 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM on weekdays. Also, the WUS centre provides Pathology lab related services as well. Apart from the above-mentioned facilities, DR. YSR Horticulture also provides facilities namely, Sports Coaching, Utility Centre, University Science Instrumentation Centre among others.
