  2. About AMC charges for Demat account • For the services they offer, brokerage firms and depository participants (DPs) impose Demat account maintenance charges (AMC) or folio maintenance fees. You should take into consideration the fact that only a select group of banks and brokerages are allowed to hold your securities in an electronic format on behalf of the depositories and are authorized by the Securities and Exchange Board of India to do so. These DPs must pay a price for this. The lowest AMC charges for demat accountshave a price range of Rs 300 to Rs 900 and can be paid either upfront or on a quarterly basis. AMC Demat fees are sometimes eliminated for the first year in order for DPs to draw in new clients.

  3. Types of Charges • Opening charges DPs charge an opening fee each time a Demat account is opened. Although insignificant, opening fees are frequently covered by special offers to give new investors a head start. Even free Demat account opening is possible with some DPs. Brokers may also provide incentives for opening two-in-one or three-in-one accounts that combine trading, bank, and Demat accounts. Banks used to charge between Rs. 700 and Rs. 900 as an opening fee prior to Demat accounts becoming commonplace. • Custodian or safety fee A DP can handle and safely hold an investor's securities with the help of this fee. These may be assessed monthly or according on the quantity of securities you have in your account. In actuality, these Demat fees range from Rs. 0.5 to Rs. 1 per ISIN (ISIN). Charges for certain ISINs won't be assessed if a one-time payment has already been made.

  4. Transaction fee Each time securities kept in a Demat account are purchased or sold, transaction fees are assessed. Transaction fees are frequently assessed by DPs on a monthly basis. However, depending on the kind of transaction that might have occurred, these fees may change. Brokers may impose a transaction fee for both debited and credited shares, or solely when a security is debited, depending on their policy.
