  2. WHO WE ARE Bridging Peoples is a global network of technical experts, researchers, trainers and social change makers. Our networked approach brings the best of both worlds, as we form teams that combine deep contextual knowledge with strong technical skills to help aid and development organisations improve their impact on the ground.

RESEARCH TRAINING STRATEGY Good project design happens when we bring together technical expertise with a strong understanding of the local context. Our research uses community-centred methodologies to explore, understand, and evaluate needs and opportunities from the local perspective. Giving you the information that you need to design and deliver a program that is fit to context. Our online and in-person courses are created for busy professionals, focusing on the organisational strategies, practical tools, and mindset that your team members can use to improve their community engagement across the project life-cycle. Training ranges from entry level, to practical support for community facilitators, to strategic support for managers and program designers. Our community engagement strategy support takes you to the next level. Using our participatory, done-with-you approach, we work with your team via a series of workshops to benchmark existing practices, and develop a community engagement strategy that is specific to your work and community context.

  4. OUR STORY Bridging Peoples first began in Timor-Leste in 2015. The idea was simple: to see if the principles of good community engagement could be usefully applied to large-scale aid and development programs. And it worked. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength, transforming from a small consulting outfit based in Timor-Leste to a global network of like-minded professionals, all committed to improving the impact of aid and development by bridging the critical gap between aid organisations and local communities.

  5. OUR APPROACH • Our mission is to strengthen humanitarian aid and development from the ground-up, using the principles of locally-led development. Our work is guided by the following values: • Evidence based. We know that good ideas can and do come from anywhere. Our work combines local knowledge with technical know-how to help aid organisations tackle complex problems. • Context-specific. We identify the contextual factors and local conditions that organisations must meet, to make their programs a success on the ground. • Solidarity. We work in solidarity with communities and local organisations to find solutions that match the local context, and that fit local needs. • Social inclusion. We use community-led processes to tackle social inequalities, supporting the rights of marginalised groups so that community dynamics are transformed from within.
