this cloud hub for various purposes. Microsoft
describes SP Online as a managed collaboration
solution that can be used to quickly locate
organizational resources, manage content and
workflow, search for experts and corporate
information and derive intelligence for appropriate
SharePoint Online is the major hub for accessing the MS
Office Web Apps. User can access web apps including Office
365 Enterprise, Excel Web App, OneNote Web App,
PowerPoint Web App, Word Web App etc. These web apps
can be used to view and edit documents, worksheets,
presentation on the web by all the users on their office
desktop computers or laptops or on their mobile devices.
Employee can have the freedom to collaborate freely at any
time, from anywhere.
Users can have a chance to build team sites on the intranet
to collaborate with team members for specific projects.
Employees can create My Sites for personal file storage and
sharing on the cloud. An additional 500MB storage will be
added to My Site users.
Team sites and sub sites can be created for:
Team or department
Permission level or sensitivity
SharePoint Online has a Document Set feature that allows
users to create document groups based on certain criteria and
then work the document group as a single entity.
It also has a complete Library system in which all document
sets can be easily stored and accessed.
SharePoint Online is incorporated with Yammer, which is a
social networking application on which users can send
instant messages, share files and conduct video and voice
conferences. Users can also have an option of sending emails
and collaborate over projects for faster results.
SharePoint Online is the cloud computing arm of the Office
365. It enables cooperation and communication via a secure
cloud server where it can also store up data.
