  1. Kidney Problems: Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

  2. Kidney Problems: Causes, Symptoms and Treatment The pair of bean-like structures in our body is known as kidneys. With the help of their smooth functioning, our body is able to excrete waste and toxins. However, kidney illnesses can interrupt normal functioning and lead to a total loss of the capacity to filter waste and balance fluid in the body. The kidneys filter hazardous substances and extra fluid from our blood, which is subsequently excreted as urine. Kidney illness can cause fluid imbalances and undesirable waste buildup in our bodies. Signs or symptoms of kidney diseasesin the early stages are not much noticeable but they become more noticeable as the disease progresses. Kidney disease treatment tries to limit the course of kidney damage by addressing the underlying cause and other factors that can contribute to kidney disease progression. The treatment will not ensure restoration of kidney functions, but will only slow the advancement of the disease. Some kidney diseases can proceed to end-stage if not timely dialysis is not done. If the situation worsens, a kidney transplant might become necessary for the patient.

  3. SYMPTOMS of Kidney Problems • The following are the symptoms of kidney disease, but they depend on their severity: • Nausea • Appetite loss • Weakness and exhaustion • Sleeplessness • Decreased Urine • Foot and ankle swelling • Blood pressure (High) • Breathlessness • Skin that is dry or itchy

  4. Some Other Common Reasons Kidney diseases may also develop when an infection, a change in lifestyle, or a medical condition impairs kidney function, leading it to worsen over time. Some of the causes are as follows: • Diabetes • Blood pressure • Inflammation in Kidney filtration unit, Kidney tubule, and surrounding structural • Family History of Kidney Diseases • Kidney stones with an enlarged prostate • Infection

  5. DIAGNOSIS To begin the treatment, doctor would ask you questions as the first step toward a diagnosis of kidney disease: your family history, if you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure or are on any medication, and any apparent changes in your urine patterns. They may order various tests and treatments to determine the severity of your renal illness. The following tests may be performed: • Blood tests • Urine test • Ultrasounds • Biopsy

  6. TREATMENT & DIALYSIS: Dialysis and Kidney Transplants are two main treatments for kidney problems. When the kidney can no longer remove waste products and excess fluid from the circulation on its own, dialysis is used. There are two types of dialysis • Haemodialysis • Peritoneal Dialysis A machine filters waste and fluids from the blood in haemodialysis, whereas peritoneal dialysis is performed by inserting a tube into the abdominal cavity and injecting a solution that filters out waste and fluids.

  7. KIDNEY TRANSPLANT: A kidney transplant is a surgical procedure where a healthy kidney from a donor is implanted in the body of the patient. Precautions after Kidney Transplantthat patients must follow include being on drugs for the rest of their lives to avoid rejection of a freshly donated kidney.
