  1. Hospice is a specialized concept of care designed to provide comfort and support to patients and their families when a life-limiting illness no longer responds to cure-oriented treatments. Hospice care neither hastens nor postpones death. The goal of hospice care is to improve the quality of a patient's life by offering comfort and dignity. Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties Mission Statement: To be the leading community resource for providing patients and their families with compassionate physical, emotional, and spiritual end-of-life care, with comfort, dignity, and respect. History: Incorporated in 1988 as a 501(c)(3), the organization originated in 1981 when three community nurses sought to support individuals with terminal illnesses. Initially serving Orange County, it expanded to Sullivan County in 1993, becoming Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc.

Services Offered Clinical Care: Providing palliative care focused on quality of life, available in various settings, including homes, hospitals, nursing homes, adult care facilities, and the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence. Bereavement Services: Offering support through counseling, support groups, and educational resources to help families navigate grief. Veterans Care: Dedicated programs addressing the unique needs of veterans, including the Vet-to-Vet Volunteer Program, which pairs veteran patients with veteran volunteers for companionship and support.
