  2. Project Purpose • Identify alternative transportation opportunities • Collect baseline data • Encourage options other than driving alone to campus • Design cost efficient and environmentally sustainable programs

  3. Survey • Designed to measure baseline data, vanpool interest and barriers to ridesharing • English and Spanish versions provided • Distributed in August to all full time faculty and staff • Excellent response with the majority of responders/48 hours

Vanpool Implementation Strategy • Four vanpool structures considered • SANDAG sponsored lease preferred option/sustainable • Maximum flexibility to grow/adjust for changes • Code of conduct manual development • Gain input from future participants/Open House • Finalize participants/Implement Program

  8. Pilot Program Details • SERVICE AREAS • I-15 at Sabre Springs Park and Ride • East County at El Cajon Transit Center • SERVICE TIMES • Monday through Friday • Pick up at 7:30 AM • Leave Campus at 5:05 PM

  9. Cost • Monthly Cost -$80 • Eligible for Pre Tax Benefit • Could be slightly less depending on vehicle type

  10. Vanpool Drivers • Must have good driving record • Receive a no cost physical • Multiple participants can be certified

  11. Vehicle • Reliable late model vehicle with comfortable seats

  12. Leasing Arrangement • USD will be the leaseholder on the vehicles • 30 Day commitment/flexibility to adjust vehicle size • Leasing Company will provide insurance/roadside assistance • SANDAG program selects qualified vendors and contributes $400 monthly to the program

  13. Guaranteed Ride Home • All participants will be entered into program • Emergency trip transportation provided home up to 3 times/year • Copayment of $3.00 • Choice of taxi or car rental

  14. Start Date • 30-45 Day Implementation Date
