    1. Howard Training Center HTC is a local, non-profit organization that offers a variety of day programs for individuals with disabilities. We have four main departments, Adult Services, Culinary Services, Production Unlimited, and Community Employment. Following is a brief description of each program.

    3. Howard Training Center Adult Services provides training for adult clients in all areas of daily living and any specialized areas of individual interest. AS accommodates all wheelchair and toileting needs. There are four programs within Adult Services:

    5. Howard Training Center Community Integration Program: Staff to client ratio is 1:3 Community outings occur on a daily basis for a minimum of 2.5 hours. The emphasis is training consumers in skills such as street safety, purchasing, self advocacy, and appropriate social conduct.

    7. Howard Training Center Skills Program: Staff to client ratio is 1:4 Community outings occur whenever possible, average about 1-2 per month. The emphasis is providing training and assistance with the activities of daily living, while helping consumers gain skills in individual areas of interest such as art, sensory stimulation, and basic academics.

Howard Training Center Golden Opportunities Program: Staff to client ration is 1:4 Community outings are offered on a daily basis The emphasis is to provide a relaxed atmosphere for elderly consumers who wish to maintain their connection with the community, but need additional physical and emotional supports to do so. The focus is on leisure activities while at the facility.

Howard Training Center Personal Achievement Program: Staff to client ratio is 1:3 Community outings occur whenever possible, average about 2-3 per month This program is for consumers who demonstrate challenging behaviors. The emphasis is on training alternative behaviors to help consumers communicate their needs and desires using appropriate methods. Targeted behaviors are decreased using positive reinforcement techniques. Part time enrollment is an option in all Adult Services programs.

    12. Howard Training Center Culinary Services: Staff to client ratio is 1:14 for work activity, 1:3 at enclaves Culinary Services has both supported employment and work activity components. HTC has a commercial kitchen that is the home to ARC Catering, a flourishing local business. Consumers learn and perform skills in basic food preparation and baking. Culinary Services enclaves consist of the Modesto Bee Beestro and the food service department at Juvenile Hall.

    13. Howard Training Center Production Unlimited: Staff to client ratio is 1:14 Production Unlimited is a traditional sheltered workshop environment. Consumers perform basic assembly, utility and bench work through contracts with a number of local businesses. The emphasis is to increase consumers’ skills and productivity to enable them to move on to a supported employment setting. Note: Part time participation is an option in either work activity program.

    15. Howard Training Center Community Employment: Staff to client ratio is 1:4 Community Employment is a supported employment program. Consumers must demonstrate an ability to work in a public setting. Job coaches provide support for the entire shift. CE boasts 12 enclaves in the community; opportunities vary from retail settings to maintaining local Cal Trans rest stops.
