  1. PLANETARY GEARBOX RATIO PLANETARY GEARBOX :- In Planetary gearbox we can see how different gears works and moves together. It consist of a Sun Gear, Ring Gear and two or more planet Gears. The Planet Gears are mounted on a moving carrier which itself rotate relative to Sun Gear. The Ring Gears have fixed position in relation to the outside world Thus this gear system is named as Planetary gear Set because its looks similar to the Planetary Solar System. A planetary gearset uses spur gears that move opposite of each other within the same plane and are used as Speed Reducers. Planetary Gearbox are used when there is a Space or Weight constraint or where large amount of speed reduction or Torque is needed. In this type of Gearbox both Input and Output have same centre of Rotation this means that the centre of the input gear revolves around the centre of the output gear and the input and output shafts are aligned and the load is evenly distributed and the gears are more resistant to damage.   2. SELECTION OF PLANETARY GEARBOX :- The choice of Planetary Gearbox, its size and gearing ratio should be defined by the outcome. It is a careful balance between Size, Efficiency, Performance and Cost.While selection of gearbox there are few things which needs to be considered: 1)The Input Speed and delivery Torque of the Motor. 2)The output Shaft Size of the motor and motor mountings. 3)The Input Shaft size of the Gearbox and its corresponding gear mountings. 4)The Ratios needed for the Applications. 5)Operating Temperature. 6)Radical and Axial Load acting on the Gearbox Output Shaft. 7)Power Generated by Motor. 8)Place where the Gearbox is to be installed. CALCULATION OF PLANETARY GEARBOX :- ✓Number of Teeth : S + 2P = R S- No. of Teeth on Sun Gear, P – No. of Teeth on Planet Gear, R – No. of Teeth on Ring Gear. ✓To check if the Planetary Gears taken are possible or not, use below formulae. If the answer is a integer then the no. of planetary gears taken is correct. R-S/N = ? Where n = No. of Planet Gears. ✓Formula to Calculate the overall Ratio for Planetary Gearset. = Where Wr, Ws,Wp and Wc is the angular velocity of Ring, Sun, Planet and Carrier accordingly and Nr, Ns and Np is the number of teeth for ring, Sun and Planet.
