  4. THE EBBINGHAUS THEORY The most important discovery Ebbinghaus made was that by reviewing information at spaced intervals, you can reduce the rate at which you forget it. This approach is often referred to as "spaced learning" but we at SMASH Maths refer to this as SPIRAL LEARNING!

  5. WHY IS SPIRAL LEARNING NEEDED? 90% of UK Primary Schools teach using WHITE ROSE SCHEMES, which use topic blocks of learning. UK assessments at the end of KS1 / KS2 and 11+ entrance exams assess pupils' learning of content from the current year and previous years! Pupils naturally forget what they been taught in previous years.

HIGH QUALITY VARIED PRACTICE CHILDREN DEVELOP PROBLEM SOLVING AND REASONING Every SMASH Maths Practice is bespoke (not generated by computer) and guarantees high quality varied practice with context. We use a variety of questions that use logic and reasoning in our SMASH Maths online practices. This deepens students’ understanding of the maths curriculum and helps them master year group content.
