  2. Valid registration is a must criteria to run one’s cars on UAE roads. • Car registration can be done at the RTA or at the licensed agencies, Tasjeel and Tamam. • Registration process is simple, but it may take time if one doesn’t know the necessary documents required to submit.

  3. VALIDITY AND ELIGIBILITY • A new car registration is valid for one year. • The car’s registration must be renewed annually. • An Individual or a company can own and register a car.

  4. NECESSARY DOCUMENTS REQUIRED • Car documents such as Vehicle clearance certificate or transfer certificate or export certificate or replacing a lost certificate (to whomsoever it may concern to). • Letter from the bank if the car is financed. • For UAE citizens and GCC citizens: Original emirates ID + copy of the valid passport to update the information. • Original Emirates ID and copy of the passport and resident visa is required for residents in Dubai and in other emirates. • For diplomats require valid diplomatic ID and letter from the Ministry of foreign affairs.

  5. For individuals who have residence visas sponsored by the Oilfields supply center requires No Objection Certificate (NOC) to register vehicles. • A 12 month valid car insurance certificate. • In case of a mortgaged vehicle, the customer must electronically add the mortgage. • Certificate of the vehicle's Gulf specifications stating that the vehicle is not compliant with the specifications without stating the manufacturing year of the imported vehicle • Vehicle technical inspection if the vehicle is imported or transferred from another emirate (classical vehicles are only inspected at the Automobile Touring Club).

  6. For companies: • Car's documents: Vehicle Clearance Certificate (VCC) or transfer certificate or export certificate or possession certificate or possession transfer certificate or replacing a lost export certificate (to whom it may concern certificate). • Official letter in Arabic + copy of the trade license + Endorsement of Signature and Authorization letter. • Car insurance certificate. • In case of a mortgaged vehicle, the customer must electronically add the mortgage. • Certificate of the vehicle's Gulf specifications stating that the vehicle is not compliant with the specifications without stating the manufacturing year of the imported vehicle.

  7. NOC for companies located in the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone and Jabel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) • If the customer does not have a traffic file: • For citizens: Original Emirates ID • For residents who have residence visa from Dubai or another emirate: copy of the valid passport + copy of the residence visa + copy of the original ID • For companies: original trade license for facilities and institutions + copy of the trade license for companies licensed by the Department of Economic Development.

  8. SERVICE FEES • Note: Service fees vary according to the size of the plate: 35 AED for the short plate and 50 AED for the long plate and 200 AED for Dubai branded plates. • Cost of first registration is approximately AED 430

  9. TERMS AND CONDITIONS • The customer or the legal representative must be present in person • The customer is required to settle all the traffic fines before receiving this service • Customers with disabilities are exempted from the registration fees of maximum 1 vehicle after presenting the required documents relevant to the service and the card of the Ministry of Social Affairs

Customers who have a residence visa from another emirate must meet 1 of the following conditions: • The customer must be an investor in Dubai (property or facility owner) • The customer must work for a company that has a branch in Dubai • The customer must be a resident in Dubai (the customer must provide a ratified tenancy agreement from Dubai's Real Estate Regulatory Agency or recent electricity or phone bill). • The customer must be an employee at a governmental or semi-governmental agency or at a regional institution that has an office in Dubai

  11. The customer must own a distinguished number before 27 January 2007 • The customer must present a letter from the university if he is enrolled at any educational institution in Dubai • GCC citizens who want to register a vehicle must present the original Emirates ID and are not required to meet the previous conditions • Individuals can register new imported vehicles through an agent for 1 year or 2 years or 3 years on the condition that they insure the vehicle over the requested period.
