  3. Fiestas in South America • Holidays, fiestas, and festivals, whether religious or secular, hold a favored place in Latin American culture. • Most holidays are the same as in the US • Some unusual festivals: Cabolgata and Ferias

  4. Ferias Ferias can be seen throughout South America. A feria is like a big fair or carnival. They have many stands, games, and also many cultural artifacts to check out!

  5. Cabalgata A fair once a year where the people show off their horses and ride throughout the city. The Cabalgata is the beginning to the feria. A usual number of horses is at least five hundred.

Christmas in South America • In Venezuala Christmas begins on December 16. • Christmas Day in Peru is highlighted by a bullfight and a procession with the statue of the Virgin Mary • In Argentina on the eve of January 6th, children in place their shoes underneath the Christmas tree or beside their beds. They leave hay and water outside the house so the horses of the Magi who bring them their gifts will have a meal.
