These aren't synonymous terms. A real estate agent is licensed to represent a buyer or a seller in a real estate transaction in exchange for a commission. A real estate agent usually works for a realtor. Referrals: Ask colleagues, friends as well as relatives for referrals. Many people with a positive experience dealing with an agent will gladly portray and explain their background and why they feel their agent was superb and exceptional. Referrals from Experts: It is undoubtedly appropriate to ask real estate agents for referrals. Financial institution representatives, particularly loan or mortgage brokers, tend to be aware of superb and exceptional agents. Open Houses: Going to open houses is a good, non-threatening way to meet good real estate agents. Pay close attention to the manner and appearance of the real estate agents, her or their professionalism, and the quality of promotional material given at the open house. CReferences: Plan to interview many agents prior to making a choice. During the interview, ask candidates to give referrals or recent clients and call those referrals.
