    3. Pagina 3 In addition to trading opportunities of pork offal and grains, more implications will be in value added areas. Currently, china’s meat industry model is still focusing on production and productivity and emphasizing output. But changing demand is reshaping the meat industry. We find out that there are possibly six areas that meat industry in Western countries tend to have balanced focus. They are productivity, production, animal welfare, environment, quality, and sustainability. China meat industry is following the suit, as more and more enterprises realize that business model focusing only on productivity will no longer be successful. And some local companies are already taking steps to adjust itself to address the rest four areas. During this process of shifting from current model to a sustainable model, China’s market offers excellent opportunities in the fields of food safety, breeding improvement, farm management, traceability, techniques in processing and packaging, and manure treatment and biogas technology. Given China’s current gap in those areas, there is great potential for foreign companies to leverage advantages and play a role in China’s pork market.
