  2. What is Bone Cancer? Bone Cancer is in fact a very uncommon type of cancer which begins in the bone. Although, this cancer can begin within any bone in the body.

  3. Signs & Symptoms of Bone Cancer? Broken bone Bone pain Swelling Fatigue Unintended loss of weight

  4. Broken bone A complete or partial break in a bone. Bones make up the skeleton of the body. They allow us the ability to interact with our environment and lift out body up against gravity. Bones are attachment points for muscles which allows us to run, jump, sit, kneel, grasp, and lift. Bones also protect organs from potential damage, and the bone marrow (tissue inside of bones) is responsible for blood cell production.

  5. Bone pain Pain is the most common sign of bone cancer, and may become more noticeable as the tumor grows. Bone pain can cause a dull or deep ache in a boneor bone region (e.g., back, pelvis, legs, ribs, arms). ... Other conditions, like osteoporosis or arthritis, may also cause bone or joint pain.

  6. Tenderness & swelling near affected area The area where the pain is localized may begin to show signs of swelling, or a lump or mass may be present.

  7. Fatigue Fatigue is a symptom of an underlying disease and is described in many ways from feeling weak to being constantly tired or lacking energy.

  8. Unintended loss of weight Unintentional weight loss is when you lose weight without dieting or increasing physical activity. It may occur following a loss of appetite or when you're consuming the same amount of calories as usual. Either way, it's usually a cause for concern.

  9. Risk Factors Associated With Bone Cancer Inherited Genetic Syndromes – There are certain rare genetic syndromes like Li-Fraumeni syndrome & hereditary retinoblastoma which are passed through families & are found to increase risk of bone cancer. Paget’s Disease of Bone – This most commonly occurs in older adults. Paget’s disease of bone can however increase risk of developing bone cancer in future. Radiation Therapy for Cancer – Exposure to large dosage of radiation like those provided during radiation therapy treatment for cancer is also found to increase risk of developing bone cancer in future.

  10. Diagnosing Bone Cancer CT Scan – Computerized Tomography Bone Scan MRI – Magnetic Resonance Imaging X-Rays PET – Positron Emission Tomography
