If it had been before 1st April 2019, you would have ended up losing the ticket fare along with your chance to take the train. Not anymore. Passengers with connecting train tickets now get a full refund on their connecting train ticket if they miss the train due to a delay in the arrival of the last train, irrespective of their PNR status. You simply need to keep your PNR number intact to complete the required formalities. # Formalities needed Passengers need to fill in a form with all the information on the second ticket. This includes personal information along with the PNR number of the ticket. For the passenger to claim a refund, the first ticketu2019s arrival junction and the boarding junction of the connecting train needs to be the same. # Other instances in which the passenger can claim a full refund In case a train is canceled due to floods, breaches, accidents or any other such reason, the passenger will get a full refund on the ticket. This refund will be given when the ticket is canceled within three days of the scheduled departure of the train. In case of a group or a family Tatkal Ticket which has more than one seat on a single PNR number, if some seats have a PNR status as confirmed while the others donu2019t , a full refund of the fair less clerkage is given for the confirmed passengers also. This is applicable only if the entire Tatkal Ticket is canceled within 6 hours before the scheduled departure of the train and up to 2 hours after the actual departure of the train. In case of the inability of the railways to give a ticket to a passenger with a confirmed ticket, a full refund is given without any deduction. In case of a change in the train timings to an earlier time which is different from that mentioned in the train timetable, the passenger can claim a full refund minus the clerkage. The ticket needs to be submitted at the station and a refund can be claimed after the actual departure of the train but within 3 hours of the old scheduled departure time mentioned in the time table. If the train is running late by more than 3 hours from the station which is the starting point for the train the passenger will get a full refund without any deduction. This is applicable only for passengers with a confirmed PNR status. In case of the death of the passenger during the journey while onboard the train, the family can claim a full refund of the ticket. If there is a dislocation of the train services en route and railways cannot make alternate arrangements or if the passenger is not willing to use the alternate arrangements made then a full refund can be claimed.
