  1. Birdnesting - Is This The Solution You Need? One of the major concerns for most parents who are in the process of getting a divorce is what their separation would do to their children. It is a concern that is far greater to those parents of younger children as the process of breaking up a family is already extremely disrupting to the lives of smaller children and in addition to losing their parental structure, these kids also often end up in a position where they have to rotate between parent’s homes. It is a situation that can cause major disruption to their young lives. Yet, the number of millennials who are now forming part of the increasing rate of divorces in the UK and who opt for birdnesting as a way to protect their young, is increasing. The term birdnesting refers to having the children remain in the family home, an environment that they are familiar with and then the parents would be rotating in and out of the property rather than having the kids moving around from one parental home to another. According to the team of leading UK divorce lawyers at Rainer Hughes, this is a trend that took off in Western countries such the US, the Netherlands and Australia and are not becoming a growing trend across the globe. Also in the UK, recent statistics indicated that as many as 11% of divorced parents have opted to rely on birdnesting as a way towards ensuring stability in the lives of their kids after a divorce. Yet, this is not an entirely new concept as the first cases of birdnesting has already been reported as far back as 1970. It is merely that more parents are now keen on trying this as a workable solution to dissolve their marriages without causing additional concerns to the mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of their children. It is also a trend that has been driven into being a much more popular solution, being widely known as various characters from the world of entertainment recently went public with the fact that they opted for birdnesting to create greater stability in the lives of their children while they were in the process of dissolving their marriages. Here we have the example of Gwyneth Paltrow who has chosen the specific way to protect her children. Another couple who brought a lot of interest into the specific approach and gave it a lot of publicity is Anne Dudek and Matthew Heller when they brought an end to their marriage. How this concept would work is that both parents would find themselves alternative accommodation where they would live while they are not residing in the family home with their kids. It might be that this alternative accommodation is merely hiring a room or in the case that you are more financially strong, then it could entail an alternative property. The Rainer Hughes team also state that this is not necessarily a long-term solution and many rely on birdnesting as a temporary option to make the transition phase easier on children. While there are many benefits to birdnesting, making it a wonderful solution to ensure that your children remain a priority for both parents, it is to many also an exercise that might just be too expensive to maintain.

  2. Few people can afford to maintain effectively three properties between two people. However, the Rainer Hughes team also confirms that if you are keen on making it a temporary state to help to bring relief to the impact of your divorce on your children, this can be a highly effective option and is thus worthy of deeper exploration to see how it can work for you.
