The Swadeshi Movement that started at the turn of the 20th century provided the Indian national movement a quantum leap to the extent that future Gandhian movements drew heavily from it. Swadeshi movement, also known as Swadeshi and Boycott movement took into its sweep almost all the hitherto untouched sections of Indian society. Youth, women, urban educated people, merchants, petty bourgeois and peasants participated with great vigor and enthusiasm.
