  1. KVM Switch Requires No Converter Gain more command over your desktop PCs. A new switch takes advantage of the graphical and audio capabilities of the DisplayPort interface to let users operate two DisplayPort-capable PCs with a single keyboard, mouse, and display. The DisplayPort KVM Switch, reportedly the first KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switch available with support for direct connections to DisplayPort monitors and computers without using a converter, will soon be available, according to Vertiv, a leading manufacturer of difficult-to-find connectivity and technology parts. At KVM management of high-resolution PCs, current users of DisplayPort technology have been forced to rely on conversions to and from more widely used interfaces like DVI and VGA, In the majority of situations, that conversion has meant giving up the benefits of DisplayPort for the sake of compatibility, as well as increasing the original setup's cost and complexity. Without making any concessions, the KVM switch allows direct DisplayPort connections. The 2-port DisplayPort KVM switch is a good option for high-definition video production applications since it has a native resolution of 2560 x 1600 (@60 Hz, 30 bpp) and 7.1 channel HD digital audio. In order to support resolutions up to 3840 x 2400 at lower refresh rates, DisplayPort supports a maximum bandwidth of 4 lanes at 2.7 Gbps each. This makes it ideal for "extreme" resolution applications that need the less dynamic graphical capability, like digital signage server control and MRI and X-ray medical imaging.
