  1. Pancreatic Cancer Treatment

  2. Pancreatic Cancer: Types of Treatment Pancreatic cancer is caused by mutations in the pancreas cells, which lead them to multiply out of control. This can result in a mass of tissue. This tumor is sometimes benign (not cancerous). The mass in pancreatic cancer, on the other hand, is cancerous (cancerous). Because pancreatic cancer is difficult to detect, it is usually not discovered until it is advanced. Jaundice and weight loss are two symptoms of pancreatic cancer. Diabetes and exposure to some toxins are also risk factors. The type of treatment depends on the tumor's size and location, as well as whether it has spread to other parts of the body. Types of Treatment Pancreatic cancer treatment is determined by the cancer's stage and location, as well as your overall health and personal preferences. The first goal of pancreatic cancer treatment for most people is to get rid of cancer. If that isn't possible, the focus may shift to increasing your quality of life while also preventing cancer from spreading or causing additional harm.

  3. Surgery • Pancreatic cancer patients may undergo the following procedures: • Pancreatic head tumors require surgery. If cancer is in the head of your pancreas, you might want to undergo a Whipple procedure (pancreaticoduodenectomy) • Pancreatic body and tail tumors require surgery. Distal pancreatectomy is a surgery that removes the pancreas' left side (body and tail). Your spleen may also have to be removed by your surgeon. • The entire pancreas is removed during surgery. The complete pancreas may need to be removed in some cases. The procedure is known as complete pancreatectomy. You can live a normal life without a pancreas, but you will need insulin and enzyme replacement for the rest of your life. • Chemotherapy • Chemotherapy is the use of chemicals to help cancer cells die. These medications can be given intravenously or orally. One chemotherapy medicine or a mix of drugs may be given to you. • Chemotherapy and radiation therapy can be used together (chemoradiation). Chemoradiation is usually used to treat pancreatic cancer that has not progressed to other organs. This combination may be utilized before surgery at specialized medical centers to help reduce the tumor. It is sometimes administered after surgery to lower the chance of pancreatic cancer recurrence.
