  2. There are many scenarios that automatically launch the Internal QuickBooks file doctor; however, there might be cases where you have to start the application yourself. Here's how you do it: • Launch QuickBooks and wait for the system to display the ‘No Company Open ’ screen. • Go to File -> Utilities -> ‘Repair File and Network Problems’. The system displays a dialog box. • Click OK. The QuickBooks file doctor restarts the application with the administrator rights.

Restore the backup of the damaged file With this you will be able to replace your damaged file with the one that you saved as a backup. • Launch QuickBooks, and go to File -> Open or Restore Company. • Click Open or Restore a Backup Copy, and click on Next. • Click Local Backup, and click on Next. • In the Look Indrop-down menu box, browse to the location of the back-up file.

Select the back-up file with the .QBB extension, and click Open. • Click Next. • In the Save In drop-down menu box, browse to the location in which you want to restore the file. • In the File namefield, type the name of the file. The Save as type field is automatically populated with the QuickBooks Files (*.QBW) entry. • Click Save.

  5. On the dialog box, click on Yes. • Click the wrench icon to open the QuickBooks file doctor application, and click Continue. • Type your user credentials to log into your file. QuickBooks file doctor now starts working on repairing your file. • From the Advanced Settingsoptions, select ‘File Diagnosis Only’. • Click Next. • After the system prompts, open your file and check for issues or repairs.
