  2. A planetary mixer is a vertical mixer that rotates on the agitator axis. The rotation is quite comparable to that of planets around the sun. Most of the mixers come with a manual or automatic lifting mechanisms. Also, some of the bowls move in a swinging fashion and in those cases, lifting is not required. The agitator has to be powered to start the mixing process. There are two different types of transmissions. One is known as belt driven transmission and another is known as gear driven transmission. In belt driven transmissions, the speed of the motor can be varied quickly. The mixer need not be stopped completely with this type of motor. With gear driven transmission, the motor has three or four levels of speed switching mechanism. The speed can be set to high, low or medium. You may also need to stop the mixer to change the speed. There are various parts and attachments associated with a planetary mixer such as flat beater, hook and whip. A flat beater attachment helps in combing the mixture much more efficiently. It works fine with cakes, pastries and icings. Dough hook is another important attachment that can be used for kneading the dough. Whip attachment can be used for creaming together the ingredients. This attachment works best with lighter mixtures.

  3. Let us discuss the advantages of a planetary mixer. The amount of labor required for the complete mixing operation is reduced to minimum by using this mixer machine. It is best suited for prolonged mixing and can be used for thicker pastes and ingredients. The amount of maintenance required for keeping the machine functional is minimum. This machine requires less maintenance and upgradation. Also, the cost required for its maintenance is very low.
