kabuliwala Story in Short… Kabuliwala is a Bengali short story written by Rabindranath Tagore in 1892. The story is of a merchant from Kabul, who comes to Calcutta (present day Kolkata), India each year for selling dry-fruits and while living in India. He becomes friends with a five-year-old girl Mini from a middle-class aristocratic family.

kabuliwala Characters 1) The Narrator :- Mini’s father and the story’s unnamed first-person narrator 2) Rahamat / The “Kabuliwala” :- Rahamatis a traveling fruit seller from Afghanistan, or a Kabuliwala, and is often referred to as such. He sells dryfruits in Kolkata. He has a family in Afghanistan with a daughter like Mini. 3) Mini:-Mini is the only child of the narrator and his wife. She is a talkative, inquisitive, and energetic five-year-old. She is very close with her father and becomes good friend of Kabuliwala. 4) The Narrator’s Wife / Mini’s Mother:- Mini’s mother is never named in the story. 5) Parvati:- The narrator refers to Rahamat’s daughter back in Afghanistan as “his little mountain-dwelling Parvati,” suggesting that that’s her name.
