Nainital Nainital, a charming Himalayan lake town, is one of Northern India's most popular tourist destinations and a picture-perfect hill station.Nainital, also known as the "Lake District," is located at an elevation of approximately 2,000 meters above sea level in the Kumaon Himalayas.Ayarpata, Deopata, Handi-Bandi, Naina, Alma, Lariya-Kanta, and Sher-Ka-Danda are the seven hills that make up the so-called "Sapta-Shring" surrounding this lovely town.The town's beauty is greatly enhanced by the majestic mountains and lake's sparkling waters.Naini, an emerald mountain lake dotted with colorful sailboats on most days, serves as the town's focal point.The lake is said to have formed, according to myth, when the eyes of the goddess Sati fell here while Lord Shiva carried her body after her death.

It was said that Kilmora was used to wash the utensils of the sun temple at Katarmal.Almora is a picturesque town set against the snow-capped Himalayas. It is on a ridge that is 5 km long and shaped like a horse saddle at the southern edge of the Kashyap hills.once served as the capital of the Chand dynasty.Almora is well-known for its unique handicrafts, mouthwatering cuisine, and extensive cultural heritage.Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore, Uday Shankar and his troupe, including Guru Dutt and Zora Sehgal, who came here for a performance, and Ravi Shankar, who contributed to the town's cultural enrichment, have all visited Almora.

Bageshwar The charming temple town of Bageshwar is tucked away in the Kumaon region's lush valley.The town is pretty at the point where the rivers Saryu and Gomti meet, and it is surrounded by the majestic Bhileshwar and Nileshwar mountains.Bageshwar is home to the adored Bagnath temple, in addition to the natural and scenic vistas it offers.This temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva, sees a huge influx of devotees during the Shivratri festival, but devotees come in large numbers throughout the year.Legend has it that the temple was built on the spot where Lord Shiva showed up in his tiger (bagh in Hindi) form to bless the wise man Markandeya, who had been worshiping the deity.The grand Uttarayani fair, which takes place every year on Makar Sankranti at the point where the rivers Saryu and Gomti meet, attracts visitors from all over the world.One of Uttarakhand's earliest events is this fair.
